Case histories: The Geffrye Museum, London
We have been supporting the in-house grounds staff since 1989 with maintenance services, renovation work and new planting schemes. Some of the older period gardens needed re-working where the old London soil was tired and exhausted; we re-laid the beds with fresh soil, re-gravelled the paths and put in new box edging, roses and clipped bays. The herb garden was also completely re-worked with improved drainage, a special soil mix, and new plants. The unusual setting of the new extension at the museum meant planting through stabilizing geotextiles to green-up the steep banks of this area. We also helped create a community-based garden at the museum comprising raised planters and a greenhouse for the Asian Womens Garden Project.
